Charles Crutchfield Obituary
November 11, 1932 - January 19, 2021
Byron, Georgia - Charles Leon Crutchfield went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, after an extended illness. He will be laid to rest in Byron City Cemetery. Due to the potentially harmful situation created by the pandemic, his family hopes that friends will understand their decision to have a private service.
Born in Peach County to the late Benjamin Leon Crutchfield and Lilla Lucille Stokes Crutchfield, Mr. Crutchfield served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base. He was a long time member of Powersville United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities wherever he was needed.
Mr. Crutchfield and his devoted wife of almost 67 years, Lavel, were each to the other the "Love of Their Life". Together they raised their children; Melanie Gordon (Randy) and Mike Crutchfield (Kim), and adored their granddaughter, Melissa Gordon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Powersville United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association. Rooks Funeral Home in Byron is in charge of arrangements.

Lavel, i pray that God will keep you close and comfort you during this painful time. I am so sorry Charles is no longer here with us, but he will forever live in your heart and ours. He leaves a legacy of faith, love, honor and integrity; and we will never forget him.

My heart and prayers are with you and the family, “Miss” Lavel. The memories of my childhood, in Powersville and the Church, came flooding back to me when I heard about Mr. Charles. He was a perfect example of a good, kind and Godly man. You both have been a couple I have loved and looked up to my whole life. Not only did you teach me about Jesus and His Love in Sunday School; you showed me by the way you lived. That spoke volumes to all of us! I count myself blessed to have known him. What a day that will be, when we are reunited with our loved ones! I love you all, Libby
