Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 AM on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Cloud for Charles Michael Jernberg, Sr. who died at his home on Wednesday, November 10th. Family and friends may call from 4-8 PM on Friday, November 12th at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. A ritual service by VFW Post 428 will be held on Friday at 6:30 PM followed by parish prayers at 7 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Cloud.
Charles was born to the late Walter F. and Mary (Schwagel) Jernberg in St. Cloud. He enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country from May, 1949 to September, 1952. He married Delphine Knaus on May 7, 1953 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Cloud. He was a conductor for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad from 1953 until his retirement in 1994.
Charles was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and VFW 428. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Mille Lacs Lake and was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Delphine; children, Lawrence (Linda) of St. Joseph; James (Cheryl) of St. Cloud; Charles Jr. (Rosemary) of St. Cloud; brothers and sisters, Gerald (Kathleen) of Fargo, ND; Patricia Duggan of Cudahay, WI; and Marilyn Kazmarski of Cudahay, WI; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his brother Robert Jernberg.
Memorials are preferred to the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice. Charles' family would like to thank the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice for the excellent care they provided.

Mr. Jernberg was a man I will always remember with respect and admiration. He took the time and effort to show me what made a good brakeman and conductor. It was a pleasure to work his turn with he and Herb. Tough but fair, he always taught me how to get paid!
