David Anthony Keys, Sr.
March 29, 1943 - October 20, 2017
Macon, GA- David Anthony (Tony) Keys, Sr. 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 20, 2017 at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA. He was born on March 29, 1943 in Cartersville, GA to Lawrence and Lassie Keys who preceded him in death. He was a devoted brother to Donald, Larry and the late Noble Keys. Mr. Keys grew up attending and was baptized at Gilmer Street Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Cartersville High School. Mr. Keys went on to receive his BA in Business from Oglethorpe College and his MBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He married his loving wife Anna Katherine Mann of Belmont, MS and moved to Macon to begin his tenured teaching career at Macon Junior College (Middle Georgia State University). Mr. Keys was a passionate professor and a caring academic advisor.
One of his favorite pastimes was watching and supporting First Presbyterian Day School athletics.
He was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church. Faith and family were most important to Mr. Keys who was lovingly called Pops by his children and grandchildren. Mr. Keys' legacy of love lives on in his children David Anthony Keys, Jr., (Peggy) of Macon, Anna Keys Durden (Cameron) of Statesboro and Carol Keys Gledhill (Clay) of Macon and his beautiful grandchildren Abbie and Cameron Durden, Jr. and Hobson Gledhill. Also left to cherish his memory are Heath Wilson, Beth Youmans, Kate Wesson and Rachel Wilson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the entire Coliseum Medical Center ICU department and Dr. Brad Stevens for the compassionate care that was given to Pops.
If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Day School Athletic Department, 5671 Calvin Dr. Macon, GA 31210. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017, from 3:00PM until 5:00PM, at Hart's at the Cupola. Burial will be in Belmont, Mississippi.
