Donald Benson Obituary
February 7, 1951 - August 23, 2014
Forsyth, GA- . Donald Allen "Don" Benson, 63, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Elder Pat McCoy will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2014, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Benson was born in Forsyth, Georgia on February 7, 1951, to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Benson. Don was a 1970 graduate of Mary Persons High School and went on to serve in the Army National Guard. He was employed with Georgia Power Company, Plant Scherer, for forty years and served his community as a volunteer firefighter for forty-two years.
Mr. Benson was an active member of Ramah Primitive Baptist Church and faithfully served the Lord. Don was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Susan Benson; children, Kenneth Benson, Kimberly Benson Haddock (Blake), Christopher Benson; grandson, Liam Haddock; brother, Chuck Benson (Belinda); sister, Gina Authment; and eight loved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks you to make donations to Monroe County Relay For Life or Ramah Primitive Baptist Church, 1274 Ramah Church Road, Barnesville, GA 0204.
