Donald Nevins -AMERICUS, GA - Services for DONALD NEVINS are 11A.M., Saturday, August 13, 2011, at HICKS & Sons Mortuary, Macon, with interment in Little Vine Cemetery, Reynolds, GA. Nevins, 62, a Brooklyn, NY native, long-time Maconite and former Reynolds resident, son of the late Ruby Mae Warren and Charles Nevins, passed August 7. -Nevins, a former Ballard-Hudson Marching Band standout saxophonist, later a standout Morris Brown College Marching Band saxophonist, was the original keyboardist (along with Jimmy Brown, Regi Hargis, Eddie Irons and Ray Ransom) of the internationally acclaimed/hit making 1970's R&B group "Brick". Among the group's several hits were: "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody" and "DAZZ (disco jazz)". Nevins along with the group were invited to play at the White House by former President Jimmy Carter, and while at Morris Brown had played with other groups and bands including Clarence Carter. -Survivors include: sister, Rene' Warren Evans; niece, Tekla Evans; great-niece, Jasmine Jones; cousins, Charlie (Evelyn) Hicks, Sr. and family, Virginia Warren Black and family, the families of the late Taylor M. Williams, Sr., Cora M. Rogers, the Smith, Lucas and Newsome families. Donald Nevins
