Jim was truly a joy to know and was one of the best story tellers I have ever met. Whenever I see or hear his name, I smile as that is what he often made me do from 1999-2003 when I worked with him.

I cannot express the sorrow I felt with the loss of Jim. I worked with Jim at ARINC, and will never forget him. I feel alot of my successes at ARINC were do to Jim's support. He was a good friend. May the Flander's family, find peace in the way Jim touched so many lives.

Jim,

We had a lot of fun over the years. Whether it was walking around a freezing cold Boston, sitting around the hotel in Charleston, or sitting together in your office in Maryland, it was great to be around such a fine person and leader. We will miss ya'll and your approach to life. You were a great leader and friend. We will never forget you. Thank you for letting us be part of your life,

As a close friend to Charlton Flanders since the age of 11 to beyond college I have many years of memory regarding Jim (Mr. Flanders) as a warm and welcoming individual. His home was like a second home to me throughout most of my high school years. Mr. Flanders' kind, humorous, and generous personality made for a great secondary household to grow up in. I'll always remember his jokes, his ice tea, and his permission to allow my brother and I to tag along the Flanders' family trips to the Outbanks every summer. He will be dearly missed.

Being amongst Chad Flander's best friends, my brother and I spent a lot of time at his house, growing up. Mr. Flanders was always kind hearted towards us, and always made us feel at home. I feel blessed to have known him. I offer my condolences to the Flanders and wish them the best during this hard time.

To Karen, Chad and Becky. We are so sorry to hear about Jim. You all were great neighbors, whom we miss anyway, but are greatly saddened that we will never see Jim again. He was a friend whom we never got tired of visiting and sharing with. We will always remember him fondly. We are also sorry we are unable to attend the service, as we will be away at that time. We hope to see you another time.

Jim

I have not forgotten the Georgia Tech vs. Navy game we attended a few years ago. The look on your face at halftime said it all - Georgia Tech 49, Navy 0!. Keep enjoying the future Wramblin' Wreck games. Take care my friend.

We grew up in Thomaston; I think Jim was a year or two older, but I remember the great ghost stories he could tell when we went on Boy Scout and RA camping trips. It was hard to sleep after one of his tales.

I worked with Jim after ARINC won its first contract here at Pax. Jim was a dear friend and someone I enjoyed staying in touch with.

To the Flander's family, he was one great man that will be missed by all that knew him.

I sure hope those angels have chairs, because when Jim tells them this story, it's going to be a great one!

We'll miss both the big smile and the huge heart.

In memory of a true Southern Gentleman and Champion Storyteller

To the Flanders family, Jim was a very dear friend whom I worked with a number of years while employed at ARINC Inc in Lexington Park, Maryland. I will never forget the many stories shared and laughter that resulted at the end of each one. Jim will be deeply missed. Please take comfort in the fact that he touched many lives and shall be fondly remember for years to come. God Bless each of you!

Jim's smile and his "southern charm" will be truely missed. I worked with Jim for many years at ARINC. Not only was he a great friend and mentor, I remember the stories he would share of his childhood, growing up in Georgia. His stories were captivating and made you want to know more; I often thought he should write a book about his life and adventures. His life stories may not have made it on pen and paper but rather left the impression on our hearts.

I will be forever grateful to Jim for his willingness to bring me to PAX River to lead a new effort that would become JPALS. His guidance and patience, particularly during extreme delays in funding, were appreciated and necessary for project success. Jim was always available for counsel and to discuss options. Thanks Jim for the advise and assistance over the past 9+ years.

I haven't seen Jim in many years; since the 80's when he was in South Carolina. We were close friends through high school, but like so many, drifted our separate ways. I'm saddened to hear of his death. May God be with the family and his circle of close friends.

Jim had a special ability to build lasting bonds with his friends and associates. He valued family, friends and tradition in the true style of a southern gentleman. I will miss his wit and that unique laugh that seemed to announce his presence.

The ARINC team in Charleston owes a great deal to Jim. When the chips were down and times tough, Jim believed in us and provided the support and leadership necessary to reach success. His laugh, morning biscuits from Bojangles, and sincere down home character will always be fond momories in our hearts.

I grew up with Jim, though a little older than I, I still remember the good ole days. He treated me more like a younger brother than a friend. I will always cherish those days. Each week as I visit my parents home on Allen St, I look at his parents home to see if by chance he there. He was a true friend and "big brother" and I will miss him. My prayers are with his family!

Jim you were a dear friend and a wonderful listening ear for the 7 years we worked together at ARINC. No-one could ever top your good ole' southern stories of which topics expanded more than one can imagine. I am happy the opportunity to move closer to your Georgia roots became reality but sorry that the adventure was so short lived. You will always remain in my thoughts and prayers. Much Love, Tess

To the Flanders family:

I knew Jim professionally for many years while he worked at ARINC. I appreciated that he was always willing to deal with the real issues; and that he kept the greater good in mind. When we visited, he was a great listener and gracious host. I enjoyed his passion for life. My family will keep yours in our prayers.

Dear Flanders Family

Many determine the mark of the sucess in life as work or money. Jim's success was his love of life and his family. He saw only good in everyone and was sure to let you know and bragg to others what you meant to him. Jim was a guy you couldn't help but like. reading the other guests thoughts he has left a memory of himself not what he accomplished in momitary value. "Well done thy good and faithful servant".

There are no words to describe what a positive impact Jim had on all that he befriended. His laugh, his infamous stories and his sense of humor were only some of the many special qualities that Jim possessed. He will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved him.

Jim Flanders could tell the best stories I've ever heard. It was always a joy to have him stop by my office to share stories about his kids or things he had done growing up in Georgia. No matter what was going on Jim took the time to listen and made you feel as if what you were saying was the only thing that mattered at that moment. People like that are rare and should be treasured. Jim will continue to be a treasured friend and I know he'll have great stories to share whenever I may see him again.

To the Family of Jim Flanders: I can't tell you how absolutely devastated I am about Jim's death. I worked with him at ARINC. I know he loved his family and his job tremendously. One of the character traits that sticks out when I think of Jim is that when he gave you "his word" on something you could always count on him to carry through. That is a unique quality that Jim had that many of us don't. He was one of the most friendly and easy going people I have ever met. Even though I only worked for him for 7 years, I feel blessed that I had that opportunity. May God grant you the strength to get through this difficult time.

To the Flanders family: My prayers go out to you. I know that Jim will be sadly missed. My years of knowing him at ARINC(Charleston) may have been short but they were genuinely sweet. For I have not met a person more REAL than Mr. Jim Flanders. RIP Jim....Shavonne (your Ham biscuit buddy!)

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy". Jim gave me a card with this saying on it when I had suffered a loss in my family. Jim was a truly genuine and caring person and will be greatly missed. His family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim was one of the most precious men I have ever had the good fortune of knowing. I worked with Jim and the ARINC Warner Robins Human Resources Department on several occasions in the support of the Georgia Tech Job Fair. He loved GA Tech and he loved ARINC. Watching him support both at the same time was amazing. He brought joy into everything he did. He will be missed professionally and personally.

To the Flanders family: Jim was the epitome of a southern gentleman who was loved by everyone who came to know him. He was definitely a family man and raved about the kids in every conversation. He was afforded the opportunity in life to plant his roots again near home which no one can imagine the joy that brought him. He will always be known to a few of us as “The Dawg” for the tenacity he showed when needed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of grief. I am so sorry for your loss. Please let my family know if there is anything we can do for you.

Love you, Dwayne and Debra Simpson

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I worked for Jim for 6 years. He was an awesome mentor, a fellow southerner and so believed in family. Everytime I saw him, he asked me to give him a "good story" about one of my kids. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that Jim was loved by all.
