2 Corinthians 5:1 says "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Jean went to meet her precious Savior on January 28, 2022 and experienced the fullness of this promise as she peacefully slipped from this life into the next to be with her Lord. Her two daughters were at her side to witness this beautiful transition.
Frances Jean Arnold was born on the 8th of October 1926 and was the daughter of the late Irene Leslie Skipper and Lonnie H. Arnold, Sr. She was the youngest of four brothers and five sisters who have preceded her in death. Jean attended Heard Elementary School, Miller High School, and Young Harris College where she received an Associate Teaching degree with Honors.
She married William Marshall Clark, Jr., of Birmingham, Alabama in 1951. After his death in 1959, Jean returned to Macon and built a home across the street from where she was born and raised. As well as being a substitute teacher at John H. Heard Elementary, she went to work for the City of Macon, Lamar Pontiac, and retired from WRAFB as an Item Manager in 1990.
Jean found love again when she married Martin "Rip" L. Boyd in 1995. They enjoyed special times together traveling, cooking, and gardening. Rip passed away in 1998.
Jean was beloved by all who knew her, and loved her Lord Jesus with all of her heart. Her love for people showed as she prayed for her family and friends daily, always putting others before herself. Her witnessing card ministry spoke volumes of this.
Jean enjoyed her involvement at Liberty United Methodist Church as an active member of the Julian Tucker Sunday School Class, holding numerous offices of UMW, attending Bible Studies, volunteering at Vacation Bible School, Fall Festival, and taught Sunday School for eight years. As a lay member, she represented Liberty at the South Georgia Methodist Conference. She was also a member of the Federated Garden Club, and past Vice President and Corresponding Secretary of the Porterfield Garden Club. She was an instrumental founder of Windsor Academy, and also served on the Macon/Bibb County Public Library Board of Trustees where she helped bring the Charles A. Lanford, M.D. Library to South Bibb County. Volunteering at Daybreak, gardening, socializing, and traveling brought her great joy.
Jean was a loyal and giving friend who was always willing to listen and to care. She was a wonderful Mother and is dearly loved by her two surviving daughters; Marsha L. Clark of Macon, and Deborah Fergusson and son-in-law, Euan of Taupo, New Zealand. In addition, those left to cherish her memory include numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends who are like family.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates consideration of gifts made in memory of Jean C. Boyd to the Martin L. Boyd Scholarship Fund held by the Georgia Methodist Foundation, P.O. Box 922807, Peachtree Corners, Georgia 30010; Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Rd, Macon, Georgia 31210; Daybreak a Project of DePaul USA, 174 Walnut Street, Macon, Georgia 31201; or The Methodist Children's Home, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.
Marsha, Debbie, and Euan wish to express their appreciation for the devoted care given by Pine Pointe Hospice staff and numerous acts of love from family, friends, and neighbors.
