Macon, GA- The Life Celebration for Joanna Gittens-Summerow will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. Peters Baptist Church, 1361 Ft. Hill St., Macon, GA 31217.
Mrs. Joanna A. Gittens-Summerow was born on April 6, 1969 in Newham, England to the parentage of the late Streadella D. Gittens and Mrs. Lorna Norville–Gittens.
Mrs. Gittens-Summerow was a member and First Lady of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
She has served the students of Bibb County School District as: Family Engagement Facilitator, Title I Education Specialist, and most recently Director of Before and After School Programs for the Bibb County School District.
Joanna leaves to honor and cherish her memory her husband, Rev. Dr. Stephen Summerow; sons, Stephen D. Summerow and Jonathan E. Summerow; mother, Lorna Norville-Gittens; sister, Shamar Gittens; nephew and niece, Xeryus L. Gittens, Shamara Chasity Moss.
Hutchings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Cousin Steve, Joanna was more than my cousin's wife she was a friend and co worker. I loved her and whenever I was in her presence her spirit uplifted me and made me see the light in this dark world. She will always and forever be in my memories and hold a special place in my heart. On those days when I feel so alone and depressed I will see her smiling and feel her kiss my jaw and give me a big hug like only she could. She had a genuine heart and beautiful spirit-something that is missing in this world called Earth!!
Pastor Walter Glover said to let you go Joanna but it is so hard but I know that you are PAIN free now and rest with your LORD!
