John Maddox Obituary

John W. Maddox -GAY- Mr. John W. Maddox, 89, of Gay, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010. -Graveside services will be 11A.M., Thursday, November 4, at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Macon, with military honors. -Mr. Maddox was born May 23, 1921, in Butts County, son of the late Jefferson and Mamie Heath Maddox. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and received a Purple Heart for his service in the Army during World War Two, having gone ashore at Normandy on D-Day. He lived in Macon most of his life, had lived at Gay since 1987, and was a retired building contractor. -Survivors include his daughters, Sandra and David Hubbard of Gay, Faye and Calvin White of Newnan, Barbara and Denzil Wallace of Griffin; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. -Condolences may be expressed at www.mckibbenfuneralhome.com. -Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

I didn't know Mr. Maddox but just reading his obituary told me that he was a man who more than earned his right to be called an honest to goodness American Hero. May He Rest in Peace and May God Cradle him in his Arms for Eternity.
