Joseph McKinley Obituary
Macon, GA- Joseph Alton McKinley, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Aubrey Sheats officiating and with Military Honors. The family will meet friends from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., on Friday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono.
Mr. McKinley was preceded in death last June by his wife of sixty-three years, Marie Hayes McKinley and was the son of the late J. William McKinley and Inez Hancock McKinley of Lamar County. A lifelong resident of Macon, he served with the U. S. Army during World War II and was awarded the EAMET Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. McKinley was in automotive body repair and was retired from Youman's Chevrolet.
Survivors include the family he adored, his daughter, Debbie Grimsley of Macon; his grandchildren, Daniel Grimsley and Sarah Grimsley, both of Macon; his great grandson, Mason Grimsley of Macon; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Betty Hayes of Duncanville, TX and Ann Hayes of Thomaston and a number of nieces and nephews.

Doc was a loving, caring & gentle person. We have lived beside him & Marie for past 20+ years. He & Marie were like 2nd parents to us. We always helped each other out & watched out for Doc after Marie's passing. He will greatly be missed here in the circle.

Dennis, I'm so sorry about the loss of your Father-In-Law. He spoke so kindly of you and really cared for you. My Father, Walter Raleigh, was his & Mrs. McKinley's neighbor across the street for 50 years, and they all really cared about each other. My he rest in peace with his beloved Marie in a much better place now. Debbie, I hope you will find peace also.

Debbie may GOD provide you and your family the strength and comfort to say goodbye to your dad. Dont dwell on his passing but celebrate his life with your precious memories. He has now reunited with his long time love in the most beautiful place free of sickness and pain.
