He received a BA in history from the University of Richmond and a law degree from Mercer University, where he served as Administrative Editor of the Mercer Law Review, graduated with honors, and received numerous awards for excellence in jurisprudence.
His was a life of distinguished military service. He served in the Army as a Russian Linguist, attached to the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, MD. Following honorable discharge from the Army, Larry engaged in the private practice of law in Macon, GA for three years before serving as a lawyer in the US Navy, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
While serving in the Navy, Larry served as a Military Prosecutor in Pensacola, FL, and the Head of the Military Justice Division in Jacksonville, FL. Larry was known for his brilliant mind, his humor and wit, and his love for his family. He taught himself to play many musical instruments (banjo, dobro, guitar), and loved bluegrass music, playing in local bluegrass bands over the years as a hobby, including the Georgia Rose Bluegrass Band. He loved a good story, a good dog, and a good day in the sun with his wife and kids.
