Marcus Whitehead Memoriam
November 13, 1954 - July 26, 2019
The Celebration of Life Service for Marcus Charles Whitehead, Sr. will be held at 11:00 A.M on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, 95 W. Morse Street, Forsyth, Georgia 31029. The body will lie in state from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Marcus Whitehead's name to the World Famed Tiger Marching Band at Grambling State University: http://www.gram.edu/giving/paypal.php.He is survived by his wife Joan F. Whitehead, six children, one sister, and other relatives. The family will receive visitors at their home from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Services, Inc. , 191 MLK Drive, Forsyth, Georgia 31029.

Just found out of Marcus' passing. We met at the MCI facility in 1992 when the Colorado Springs MCI facility was still under construction. There are many you (Marcus) helped get employment, especially those graduating from HBCU's.
Your drive and effervescent personality will be missed by all those you touched.

My sincere condolences to the Whitehead family for your difficult loss. I worked with Marcus at Genuent and can not say enough wonderful things about him. He was so positive, kind and worked so hard for my clients. I always looked forward to his phone calls knowing that the conversation would always be so uplifting. In the short 3 years I knew him, he taught me so much about integrity and passion. He will be deeply missed.

My condolences to the family of Marcus Whitehead. I had not seen him in 7 or 8 years and oh so long before then, but he was the same person he was when he attended Grambling State University. We were in the World Famed Grambling Band together. He and his "partner in crime" Gary "Savage" Webb kept all of our spirits up with their comedic "carrying-ons!" To his family, please take comfort in the fact that he was well liked and loved! May God keep you in his heart while you keep Marcus in yours!

What an honor it was to perform with Marcus in the Grambling State University "Tiger" Marching Band. Marc my heart is broken that I want be able be there for your going home services but I find comfort in knowing that we said goodbye. I am so thankful for that. You have always been like a brother to me and we have always considered you a member of our family.
Thank you for your prayers, your inspiration, the music we shared to together and for listening to me when I need you the most. I am glad that I was able to offer you the same when you needed me.

Marcus Charles Whitehead Sr. You've gotten your wings so now you can fly among the angels watching over and helping so many as you always have. Words cannot express how we feel, but we have great consolation knowing that you were a vessel used by God to help His children while you were here. We pray Gods strength and grace upon your family. Marc you are now in Gods heavenly band go now and blow your horn; you made it. Take your rest.
