Martha Nell Barnes Swearingen
Perry, GA- Martha Nell Barnes Swearingen, 76, passed away on June 25, 2014. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Martha Nell was born and raised in Butler, Taylor County, Georgia, to the late Joseph and Elsie Basset Barnes. She graduated with honors from Butler High School and had a Business Degree from Macon State College. Martha Nell retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base after 38 years as a Staffing Specialist. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, James Elijah Swearingen; her brothers, Joe Barnes and Charles Barnes; and her niece, Sue Barnes Wyszynski.
Left to cherish the memories of Martha Nell are her children, Ken Swearingen of Perry, Kay Swearingen Seereiter (John) of Kathleen, and Tim Swearingen (Parrish) of Bonaire; her grandchildren, Savannah Seereiter and Noah Swearingen; her special first cousins, Scott Prothro and Anne Prothro Slade of Griffin; and many nieces and nephews.
