Mary Rowan Obituary
2/5/1921 - 4/12/2018
Athens, ga- Mary Roberts Rowan, wife of 50 years to the late Paul James Rowan, died Thursday, April 12, 2018. Born in Macon, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. Roberts and Katherine Hardy Roberts. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter: Katherine Teresa Rowan; brothers: Charles B. Roberts, Jr. and James Roberts and sisters: Martha Roberts Nelson and Kathryn Roberts Wilcox. Mary served in the US Army as a nurse where she met her husband. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include her two sons, Paul J. Rowan, Jr., of Augusta GA and Tim Rowan of Athens, GA; daughter, Mary R. Young, Dry Prong, LA; son in law: David C. Young of Dry Prong, LA; daughter-in-law, Celina G. Rowan of Augusta GA; son in law: William P Rieger of Harford, WI; grandchildren, Teresa Rowan, Patrick Rowan and Matthew Rowan. She is also survived by her dear cousin; Margaret L. Rongitsch of Hugo, MN, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rosary and wake services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 9AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Athens, GA. The funeral Mass follow at 10AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Athens, GA. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Athens, GA. Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, WEST is in charge of arrangements.
