Paul Smaha Obituary
April 26, 1942 - November 12, 2017
Macon, GA- Dr. Paul G. Smaha, II, 75, of Macon, passed away November 12, 2017. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar Street, Macon, Georgia 31201 with Father Scott Winchel officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00PM-7:00PM Thursday, November 16, at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210 with Rosary following immediately after. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, P.O. Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64187-1847.
Dr. Smaha was a graduate of University of Georgia and Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He started his podiatric practice in 1968 and was the first podiatrist on staff at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Dr. Smaha was past president of the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association. He was a past member of the Board of Georgia State Podiatric Medical Examiners. His work was his hobby. He is predeceased by his wife, Marie F. Smaha.
Dr. Smaha is survived by his children, Dr. Paul G. Smaha, III (Carol), Kim A. Smaha, Dr. Jason Smaha (Michelle), all of Macon; grandchildren, Katlyn Smaha, Paul G. Smaha IV, Jake Smaha, Josh Smaha, Jason Smaha, Heather Smaha and Victoria Smaha; Michelle Smaha's children, Lesley Smith and David Smith; sisters, Theresa Brimer, Cecelia Smaha, Trudy Perez-Poveda (Jorge), and brother, Jiggy Smaha.

We are so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Paul was my grammar school classmate at St. Joseph's -- a natural leader-type, who, even as a first-grader, could never really hide his soft heart. Billie and I are so deeply sorry for his loss. He stood tall, knew his mind, and was always fair in all things. He hid a heart of gold with his gruff manner, but one soon figured out his kind and unselfish nature. He will be sorely missed by all of us at BAP. His place on this Earth will be hard to fill. There will never be another like him.
