Debbie and Doris: I was so sorry to hear about Prentice. I regret even more that I was unable to attend his service. I want you to know that you are in my prayers and thoughts. God bless you and give you peace and comfort in the days to come. Melvin and Betty Jean send their regrets as well.

Debbie,
I'm sorry I was not able to be with you today, my heart was sad when I read about your dad in the newspaper, I will also remember the good times we had, the four of us watching movies on Balkcom on Saturday nights and eating popcorn, so many things have happened since then and in our lives since both of us have married. We forget so many happy experiences, you and my mother getting everyone together for the wedding, the girl scouts, and the many WDEN chili cookoffs(the fishing booths), and the many visits we had together after both of us married. I will always cherish our friendship, long talks we use to have, the many prayers we shared together and certainly the faith and love that our families share in Christ our Lord. My prayers will continue in the days ahead.

Prentice you were a great guy ...Always FUN to be around and chat with. You will be missed! Several of your family members have also played a positive role in my life...certainly following your lead. My fondest rembrance is you taking the time to come to my house to provide transportation to the Macon Rifle and Pistol Cub Events. The Pistol OJT instruction I learned from you during those days will always be with me...The Saturday Pistol Matches were really enjoyable! From a fellow sailor...Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate!

After a long and fruitful life filled with excitement and selfless service, the time to go home to Heaven arrived. That clarion call went out and God reached down, took Dad Byrd by the hand and said "welcome home my child, job well done." Debbie, Mom Hutch, Billy, our prayers are with you. That you for sharing Dad Byrd with us for such a long time.
