Robert Stippich Obituary

Col. Robert C. Stippich, USAF Ret. -AUSTIN, TX - Colonel Robert C. Stippich, USAF Retired, age 85, of Austin, TX passed away Friday, April 27, 2007. -He was born on October 3, 1921 in San Antonio, Texas to Leo John Stippich and Erna Heidrich Stippich. He was raised in New Braunfels, TX until his early 20's. Col. Stippich attended Southwest Texas State University then joined the United States Air Force on October 22, 1948. He married Lorene Marie Bindseil on February 19, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio. He retired on January 31, 1971 as a Colonel after 28 1/2 years of military service. -Colonel Stippich was a member of Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Austin, TX. He owned B & B Locksmith near downtown New Braunfels for several years. He will be remembered for his love of flying, reading, music, his exceptional woodwork, gardening and his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorene Marie Stippich, a son Gregory John Stippich and a brother Lawrence James "L.J." Stippich. -Survivors are his daughters, Patie Williams and her husband Charles of Warner Robins, GA, Elizabeth "Betty" Spencer and her husband Gary of Elgin, TX, Catherine Dunne and her husband Joe of Austin, TX, Barbara "Gink" Luedecke and her husband David of Austin, TX; Sons, Bruce Stippich and his wife Jean of Eglin AFB, FL, Michael Stippich and his wife Susan of New Braunfels, TX; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Hines of Dallas, TX. -Visitation will be held Monday, April 30, 2007 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX. -Funeral services are Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 10A.M. at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Fetter officiating. Interment will follow in the Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in New Braunfels with full military honors. -In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road Suite 100, Austin, TX 78759, Phone #1-800-445-3261. -Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home, New Braunfels, Texas (830) 625-3434.
