Tammi Lamar-Blackwood Obituary
Tammi entered this life on January 2, 1971, in Macon, GA. She was born to parents Booker T. Lamar and the late Dorothy Allen Lamar. Dr. Lamar, 54, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025. She graduated from Mt De Sales Academy in 1989. She completed her pre-pharmacy curriculum at Wesleyan College and the University of Georgia. She pursued her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Florida A&M University and graduated in 1996. She was employed with CVS Health as a board-certified pharmacist. Dr. Lamar was a dedicated wife, daughter, aunt, friend and a servant of the Lord. She was a proud member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Macon, GA where she served on the steward board.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Kimathi Blackwood; father, Booker T. Lamar; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Dharwati Blackwood; brother, Keith Lamar, Sr.; nephew, Keith A. Lamar, Jr., Esq.; niece, Adrienne Thomas Lamar, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services are being rendered by Jones Brothers Mortuary, 3035 Millerfield Road, Macon, GA. The family will have visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Jones Brothers Mortuary Chapel.

Tammi was a perfectionist. She cared about everything she did and she was always going that extra mile trying to please everyone. Tammi stayed on the go, always doing God´s work. Tammi was one of the most sincere, caring and thoughtful I´ve ever met. I´m going to miss the phone calls, the laughter and the friendship bond that we´ve built for nearly twenty years. Tammi never met a problem she didn´t try to solve. When she heard that you had one, she immediately tried to either personally help you resolve it, put you in touch with someone who could help, or (usually) both. She cared so much for others, and she truly was the epitome of Galatians 6:2- "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (KJV).

I can´t even think about my time at CVS without thinking about Ms.Tammi. I remember the first time we worked together. We had a full conversation & I found out quickly that she knew so many of my family members lol. I enjoyed working with her. She was a great mix of being in charge, yet still relatable.
The last time I saw Ms.Tammi was just last Tuesday, Nov.25th, at the Mercer vs FAMU basketball game. I was so tired from work that day & almost didn´t go but, im so glad I did. I´ll never forget our last conversation. We had us a good laugh lol.
Ms.Tammi, you are truly gone too soon but i´m so glad our paths crossed. When I move on to my next chapter in life, I´ll always remember who made a positive impact on me during my time at CVS and you were one of those people. My deepest condolences to the Lamar & Blackwood families. Fly amongst the highest of angels Ms.Tammi. Well done my girl.

Tammi and I grew up at Saint Paul AME Church on Morrow Ave. We attended Sunday School together as kids. I remember one Sunday when we were kids, we did a duet one Sunday, singing "Learning to Lean", me singing alto. My mom played the piano for us that Sunday. I have known Tammi since we were preteens. We grew up going to YPD meetings, Sunday School Conventions and other church activities in the AME church. We also would see each other after Friday Night games at Pizza Hut on Spring Street. After years had passed we worked together at CVS. We talked about the good old days and laughed a lot. I will miss her smile and how we could continue a conversation started years ago. The joy we can hold onto is that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Came home for the Holidays back in 2023, and able was to hook up and spend a little time with my Cousin. Though it has been decades since I have lived in Georgia; It is always good to return and see those old familiar faces who greet you with a Smile and a Hug, to make you feel glad that you came. My fond memories of time spent with Cousin Tammi-at St. Paul and far beyond-are both precious and plentiful. To know kindness and love was to know Tammi; she carried the same gentle spirit and warmth as her beloved mother. To know Tammi was to love her. Over almost 50 years of friendship, I can't recall a single time when she didn't greet me with her signature smile.
