Thomas Lloyd "Booty" Childs, Jr. -GRAY - Thomas Lloyd "Booty" Childs, Jr., 74, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in a local hospital. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Graveside services will be held at 11A.M., Thursday, July 21, 2005, at James Cemetery in Jones County, with Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. -Mr. Childs was born on August 9, 1930, in Macon and was a lifelong resident of Jones County. He was the son of the late Thomas Lloyd Childs, Sr. and Minnie Ard Childs. Mr. Childs was a farmer, a former member of the Macon Police Department Bluecoats and Motor Traffic Division, was a former Chief of Police of Gray, a former Sheriff of Jones County and a Lieutenant with the Georgia Corrections Department in Milledgeville. He was a Mason, a member of the Al Sihah Shrine Temple and a member of Elam Baptist Church. -Mr. Childs is survived by his daughters, Teresa Childs Ridgway of Gray, Tammy Childs Ashurst of Madison, and Paula Kaplan of Macon; son, Thomas Childs of Macon; and by eight grandchildren. -In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Elam Baptist Church, Post Office Box 816, Gray, Georgia 31032. -Bridges Funeral Home in Gray has charge of arrangements.
