Macon, Georgia - Technical Sergeant Wiley Earl Dent, USAF Reserves, Retired, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, with the Reverend Glenn Lyles officiating. Family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be private at Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Musella, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of "TSgt Wiley Earl Dent".
Mr. Dent was a proud "Korean War Era" Veteran serving on active duty with the USAF as an aircraft mechanic. He continued serving with the USAF National Guard and Reserves, in a variety of positions, earning retirement after more than twenty years. He also served more than thirty years with the United States Postal Service, retiring as an area maintenance technician. He was a talented country music singer, guitarist, and song writer. He enjoyed fishing, working on his home, and maintaining his "Old Ford". Most of all, he loved his family and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his children; Margie Dent Martin (Jon) of Macon; and Jeffrey Dent of Savannah; his grandchildren; April Brown Athon (Brad) of Warner Robins, and Tiffany Brown Dykes (Doug) of Cochran; his great-grandchildren; Brayleigh Athon, Tristen Dykes, Kendall Dykes and Tanner Dykes; and his brother, Larry Dent (Quilla) of Eatonton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Cleveland Dent and Mildred Berkner Dent; and his brother, Joe Dent.
