William Causey Obituary

William Jackson Causey, Sr.
June 10, 1924 - September 27, 2021
Musella, Georgia - Funeral services for Jack Causey, Sr., 97, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the Roberta City Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the cemetery immediately following the service. Rev. Leanette Roberson, Rev. Jim Hamlin, and Rev. Tommy Odom will officiate. Mr. Causey passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born June 10, 1924 in Musella, Georgia and spent his childhood years on the Causey farm in Crawford County. During his high school years the family moved to Macon where he attended and graduated from Lanier High School. After graduation he enlisted in the Army and was proud to serve his country in the Army Air Force during World War II.
Jack attended the University of Georgia and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Agriculture. He and his wife, Louise, moved into his childhood home in Musella where they raised their four children on the family farm that he so dearly loved. He was a dairy farmer for many years, as well as a tree farmer for life. Jack served as chairman of the Crawford County Board of Education for 25+ years and was honored as the longest serving chairman in the history of the Board. He also helped establish the Crawford County Planning and Zoning Commission.
Jack worked for the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce for many years and served on the Macon Rescue Mission Board, a ministry close to his heart. His longest employment was with Fickling and Walker Development Company until his retirement in 1992.
Jack was a life-long member of the Roberta United Methodist Church, serving in some capacity on every committee during his 97 years. He was a faithful member of the Crusaders Sunday School class and the Men's Bible Study Group until his health declined. He loved his church and his church family and was known as the "candy man" by all the children, always having a pocket full of lollypops for them. He was a true disciple of Christ, reaching out to many during his life.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry Causey, Sr., and Tullie Colvard Causey; his loving wife of 64 years, Sarah Louise Bilbo Causey; sons, Robert Henry Causey, III and William Jackson Causey, Jr.; grandson and wife, Matt and Amy Justice, and great-grandson, Garrett Justice; two brothers, Robert Henry Causey, Jr. and Harold Everett Causey and his sister, Frances Causey Spears.
Jack is survived by two daughters, Susan (Lowell) Justice of Blakely, and Carol (Henry) Walker of McRae-Helena; his daughters-in-law, Victoria Causey of Warner Robins and Marsha Causey of Musella; 8 grandchildren, Jack (Anna Gail) Justice, Robert (Amanda) Causey, IV, Lauren (Paul) Guesquiere, Catherine Causey, Amy (Brad) Williams, Kelly (Derek) Barnes, Brian (Caitlin) Walker and Sydney Causey; and 14 great-grandchildren.
During the last five years of his life, he greatly loved his family of caregivers, Randy and Demetris Lockett, Akira Lockett, and Jenni Baily and they loved him.
The family is so thankful to them for the wonderful care and compassion they showed him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Roberta United Methodist Church, PO Box 375, Roberta, GA 31078 or Encompass Hospice, 1760 Bass Road, Suite 202, Macon, GA 31210.

Still love and miss Jack, Louise, Robert & Jack Jr. They were all such a happy part of my family's lives when my boys were growing up, and my life working for Jack as a resident manager for him at Fickling & Walker.

I am so very sorry to read of Jack's passing. I worked for him as a resident manager for three years, and my boys loved him and called him "Uncle Jack" and we also got to know Louise, Robert and Jack Jr. as well, and loved them too. We spent the weekend a couple of times at their house at the lake, and enjoyed our times with them.
Please accept my sincere condolences. He was a wonderful man.

I send prayers of comfort to the Causey family. I have such great memories of being right next door to Mr Causey as I grew up as a child. I looked and marveled over his dairy farm as we passed it each time. I also loved looking at the beautiful yellow house that he and Ms. Causey lived in. I am one of the Troutman's granddaughters. My uncle Pete Prater used to work on the Causey's diary farm when I was a little girl. He will truly be remember and missed.
