William "Buddy" Raby, Jr.
May 13, 1955 - June 12, 2021
Arlington, Virginia - William "Buddy" Raby, son of Bud and Marie Raby, and brother of Linda Mullis and Ronnie Raby, died on a Saturday night in June at the age of 66. Decades too soon, he nevertheless passed on his terms with great dignity. Buddy loved his family and was a loyal friend to others—he never met a stranger. He enjoyed traveling and good food. His tribute is in the memories of everyone who ever heard him laugh or saw him smile. Buddy's gift was his personality and the joy he brought to any situation, no matter the circumstances. Buddy is survived by the love of his life, Lee Ann (Thurmond) Raby, with whom he had two children with dark eyes, Adam and Liz. Buddy also had two outstanding grandchildren; Oliver and Valentina, and welcomed son-in-law, Nick Partridge and daughter-in-law, Christina Raby into his family.
He was surrounded by love and family on his final day in his home full of laughter and light, with the sounds of his grandchildren playing in the next room. Buddy Raby was the embodiment of a good man and he will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Johns Hopkins Colorectal Cancer Research Center of Excellence at Johns Hopkins Colorectal Cancer Research Center of Excellence.

Linda and family: Danny and I were shocked and saddened to hear about Buddy. Many happy memories from Rivoli Baptist years ago flooded our thoughts! May y’all find peace and comfort during your grief.
Luv and prayers, Lynn and Danny Watson.

I grew up as an extra child of the Raby household. Buddy referred to me as the “Culloden girl” which I rebutted with his title as the “ole Bolingbroke man.” I loved each day with my extra family. Liz was my bestie from 3rd grade. Camping trips in that old suburban with the leaky exhaust had the ole mans signature all over them. I always felt the love when in Buddy’s presence. This hurts big, but he’s at peace now. Love all you Bolingbroke/DC fam. I’m coming to visit and we shall go to Carmines in his honor!

Buddy was a dear childhood friend. His backyard on Bloomfield Drive in Macon used to back up to my families yard on Pine Forest Rd. I was one year older than Buddy and when I started school one year before him he would come to my house and ask my mother if “Zudy” was home yet? I have fond memories of playing with Buddy and neighborhood friends when we were all children. May the thoughts and prayers of those who care bring you comfort at this time.

Buddy was a great friend and person. When I was in his company at work, attending meetings, and on personal time I always had a good time. Buddy never expressed pain or sadness during the trying times of his last year both because he was so positive and became he did not want friends and family to feel unhappy. He will be missed

I'm sure he will be missed. I had not seen him since the late 90's but he was a friend of mine from the past. So much like Mr. Bud. Prayers for both family's.
