Undoubtedly, Butch is in Heaven right now rearranging chairs, out-cooking everybody and giving the Lord advise. If you wanted to hear the truth, all you had to do was ask him. The world will not be the same without him. I appreciated his friendship and his incredible ability to make people laugh. I pray that God will give Brenda and the rest of his family and friends comfort, closure and peace. Sleep well, "Charlie". Your new angels are standing by.

Thinking of your in your time of sorrow. Wish I could have spent more time with you when Edward died, but I know Butch wasn't feeling well at the time and had to get back home. The kids and I send our regrets.

My heart goes out to the Stodghill family with the loss of Butch. I had the fortunate opportunity to play baseball with Willie at Riverside in Chattanooga. He was one of the most intense competitors in our neighorhood. We all knew Willie had 3rd base covered.
Willie graduated with my sister, Brenda D. Jones, and he would always come to our house to use our encyclopedia for his homework. My dad always welcomed him into our home and he was such a gentleman, in the house. But in the backyard, where we played basketball, he was a guy you had better move out of the way, bacause he would knock you down to score. Willie had a lean back, one handed jumper fade that none of us could block. I took that shot to North Carolina, at Albemarle Junior College, shot it on a dude and got a 2-year basketball scholarship at the school. I used it several times during my games and it was very effective. I have Butch to thank for helping me get started with my education as a result of that shot.
All of the guys in Willie's class were like big brothers to me, Tennie (Cecil), and Bunnie. We looked up to him and his knowledge of baseball and the way of the world.
Willie, Calvin Moore, Michael Bloodsaw, BooBoo Ware, Ronnie Moore, Cecil, Bonnie, Edgar, Ed, Leon Moore, Bill Moore, Johnnie Moore, David Stuckey, Kenneth "Rudie Pig" Shields, Leon Murphy, Ira Hall; we all were there and from the past who have gone to the present who are here, we pay a great tribute to Willie "Butch" Stodghill . . . may he rest in peace
