Alice Hill Obituary
February 28, 1952 - August 16, 2024
MADISON - Alice "Chris" Hill, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Feb. 28, 1952, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., the daughter of Norman and Eleanor (Gigstad) Olson.
Chris graduated from Southern Door High School in 1970. She attended UW-Stevens Point for two years and met the love of her life, Jay Hill. They were married on June 2, 1973, in Sturgeon Bay (Vignes). Chris received her nursing degree from Madison College in 1975. She worked for 32 years as a nurse in various capacities at the UW Hospital. She cared for patients on several units and transitioned to the clinic float pool, and later became the float pool manager for 15 years, retiring in 2015.
Chris loved watching her grandchildren play sports and was an avid Badgers, Brewers and Packers fan. She loved spending time with her family and friends and had a natural gift of bringing people together. Chris loved traveling to Door County and Disney with her grandkids and enjoyed her vacations with friends in Las Vegas and Mexico.
Her family and friends described Chris as loving, hardworking, humble, compassionate, empathetic, awesome, kind, athletic, fun, beautiful, thorough, determined, passionate, capable, Norwegian warrior, resilient, generous, sports fan, competitive, open-minded and faithful. Chris will also be fondly remembered for her love of yellow labs and dancing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could easily laugh at herself. She loved, valued and accepted all people. Chris was an ESL tutor and was a faithful volunteer at her church, Midvale Community Lutheran. She was guided by her strong faith.
Chris will be greatly missed by her husband, Jay; children, Matt and Jenny (Jeff) Noel; grandchildren, Jackson and Gwendoly Noel and Wyatt Hill; sister, Siggy (Duane) Wians; sisters-in-law, Linda and Maren Hill and Jean Olson; and her extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Eleanor; brother, David Olson; in-laws, Jerry and Berdine Hill; brothers-in-law, Mark Hlavek and Craig Hill; sister-in-law, Peggy Hill; and her dogs, Max and Lucky.
"Uff dah," Chris was always proud to be a part of a special family, her Norwegian heritage, and Sturgeon Bay (Vignes).
A funeral service will be held at Midvale Community Lutheran Church, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, with Pastor Katie Baardseth presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the funeral, with a luncheon to follow. Please feel free to wear your favorite Badger, Packer or Brewer apparel to the funeral.

I am so glad that I was able to see Chris, Jay, Sigrid and Duane last fall at our Vignes Grade School reunion. Chris came from a wonderful family and even as a young girl she was a very kind and caring person. My deepest sympathy and prayers to her family.

Chris was my dorm roommate at UW Stevens Point. She was truly a class act in that she cared about everyone....so kind, so accepting, so loving! It was truly a gift to have crossed paths with this beautiful human being. I will love her forever!
