Amy S. Hall
September 21, 1971 - October 31, 2024
MOUNT HOREB - Amy S. Hall, loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away at age 53, on October 31, 2024, surrounded by her family. Amy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, joyful spirit, warm hugs, and infectious laugh. She made every person who came into her life feel important and loved.
Amy was born in Janesville, Wis., on September 21, 1971, to Kathleen (Diotte) Scott and Frank Scott. Amy graduated from Craig High School and continued her education at the University of Virginia, where she met Stephen Hall in Accounting class. The pair quickly fell in love and got engaged before graduating in 1995. Amy and Steve were married on September 9, 1995, in Virginia Beach. They celebrated 30 years together as a couple in 2024.
After the birth of their two children, Ashley (27) and Scott (24), the family relocated to Madison, Wis., and later Mount Horeb. Amy's greatest joy in life was being a mom. She often said it was her favorite job ever, and was known for telling her kids "I love you more." Amy was proud to watch both kids attend UW-Madison, where Ashley earned her bachelor's and master's degrees, and Scott earned his bachelor's degree and recently started medical school.
Amy loved vacations with family (especially road trips), her dog, Millie, and enjoying fresh air on the screen porch. Amy always found a way to help make the world a better place. She was passionate about animal rescue, fostering six dogs through the Labrador Education and Rescue Network (LEARN). Amy was a pancreatic cancer survivor, serving on the Carbone Cancer Center Pancreas Cancer Task Force to make a difference for other patients. Amy had a fulfilling and impactful career, most recently with the UW School of Medicine and Public Health as the Division Administrator for Geriatrics and Gerontology. She loved her coworkers and role, often referring to it as her dream job.
Amy is survived by her husband, Steve Hall; daughter, Ashley Hall; and son, Scott Hall; her mother, Cathy Scott; father, Frank (Marty) Scott; sister, Emily (Nathaniel) Feldner; stepbrother, Scot (Anita) Wickhem; and stepsisters, Amy Wickhem, Becky (Bryan) House and Emily (Brad) Thiess. Amy leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins (including "sister-cousin," Bethany); and nieces and nephews (including her pseudo-grandchildren, Tommy, Franklin, Gus, Harper, and Dylan). Amy will be met in heaven by her grandparents, Catherine and Raymond Scott; and Helen and Alfred Diotte.
The funeral service will be held at EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, with the Rev. John Twiton presiding. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery in Mount Horeb. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the burial.
Amy's family would like to thank her incredible UW Hospital ICU team, who supported her at the end of her time on Earth. The family is establishing a memorial fund to advance research in pancreatic cancer. If you would like to make a gift to the Amy S. Hall Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, please give a check payable to "UW Foundation" (noting "Amy S. Hall Memorial" on the memo line) to a member of Amy's immediate family. For those who prefer donating online, information will be available at the service and on social media. Online condolences may be made at
