Andrew Taylor Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Taylor

MADISON - Andrew "Andy" Taylor, 46, of Madison, passed away on February 11, 2025. Andy's life was defined by his devotion to his family, his loyalty to his friends, his big heart, and his quick wit. His capacity to make everyone feel his love was unmatched, and everyone who stood in the light he created will deeply miss him. Andy met his wife, Katie (Nelson), shortly after graduating from the University of Wisconsin Madison. They married in 2008 and went on to raise two incredible children, Luke and Wynn. Andy treasured his time with his family, from going to live sporting events with Luke, to being a gymnastics dad for Wynn, and walking his dog Nala. His role as a loving husband and father was at the core of who he was. Beloved son of Jeff and Mary Taylor, he was a dependable fishing partner to his dad and trustworthy taste-tester for his mom's baked goods (especially her chocolate chip tea bars). His family, including his brother Tony (Sarah) Taylor and his niece Maggie, meant the world to him. He was always the fun uncle who said yes to sledding, swimming, or Dave & Buster's, and his warm, encouraging spirit made him a treasured member of the Taylor and Nelson families. A loyal Badger, Andy earned both his Bachelor's Degree and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He also worked in finance for the University for his entire career, serving most recently as a budget design team lead. He balanced his career with a love of sports. A gifted high-school athlete, he continued his love for sports as a spectator, coach, and supporter of his children's many athletic endeavors. He was also a loyal fan to the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers, and his champion-winning fantasy football teams. Andy was a deeply loving and caring individual. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone he met. Whether playing a round of golf, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing a kind word, Andy made everyone feel valued and appreciated. He was a great friend to many, and his loyalty and compassion were unwavering.

Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Katie (Nelson) Taylor; his children, Luke and Wynn Taylor; his parents, Jeff and Mary Taylor; his brother, Tony (Sarah) Taylor, and niece, Maggie; as well as his aunts and many cousins in the Pfaff and Ringelstetter families, and Katie's family, including her mother, Cecelia, and siblings Lindsay, Joe, and Jake.

A liturgical service will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison, at 1 p.m., on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Given Andy's dedication to his children, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for Wynn and Luke's education. Andy's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

I have many great memories of Andy in our years playing soccer and hockey in high school. Definitely had a wit about him.
