MADISON - Carla Thompson Leskinen, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024. Born on July 26, 1946, in Madison, Wis., she was the cherished daughter of George and Doris Thompson.

On March 24, 1965, Carla married Terry "Shorty" Leskinen, and together they embraced a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, traveling to many places and creating lasting memories.

Carla dedicated a significant part of her career to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, working in both the School of Agriculture and the Art Department. After retiring, she continued to pursue her passions, working part-time at Madison College and delighting others by decorating cakes at Walmart.

She will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, kindness, adventurous spirit, and, of course, her delicious chocolate cake!

Carla is survived by her devoted husband, Terry; daughter, Tracy (Thor) Spilde; son, Anthony (Chryss Hamilton) Leskinen; and beloved grandchildren, Thor Spilde Jr., Berit Spilde and Grey Hamilton. She is also survived by her siblings, Tommy Thompson, Georgia Thompson, Liz Parmer and Larry Thompson; sister-in-law, Pam Horn; brother-in-law, Richard Leskinen; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, George and Doris Thompson; sisters, Valerie Priebe and Phyllis Gallman; brothers, Dennis Thompson and Dee Thompson; and brother-in-law, Sigurd Leskinen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, 3054 County Road BB, Madison.
