Carole Giles Obituary

Carole Lee Giles

Carole Lee Giles (nee Spitzer) died peacefully in Madison on April 25, 2023, with her daughter at her side.

Carole was born in 1934 in Milwaukee. She was a graduate of Washington High School and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Following graduation, she traveled through Europe and later worked for the Department of State in Washington, DC. She married Ron Giles in 1960. Ron preceded her in death in 2018. She is survived by her daughter Beth (Jeffrey Klinkner) and her son Marc (James Huberty).

Her children were fortunate to have her at home as a loving and industrious mother and homemaker in their early years. She later returned to work in a variety of bookkeeping and administrative roles, including several years behind the scenes at Boder's of Mequon and the Woolen Mill Inn in Cedarburg and later Sendik's of Whitefish Bay.

While living in Cedarburg, she and Ron spent many years as members of the vibrant spiritual community at Congregation Sinai in Fox Point, WI. She and Ron were avid supporters of their children's participation in drum and bugle corps, including the Thunderbolts of Cedarburg, where the family made many lifelong friends, as well as the Phantom Regiment, the Spirit of Atlanta, and the Madison Scouts.

Carole's final years were spent near and with her daughter and son-in-law in the Madison area. Her family gratefully acknowledges the care provided by her many clinicians and caregivers throughout the years and the Agrace HospiceCare team. Her children would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to Rabbi Renee Bauer and Jewish Social Services of Madison.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Carole's memory to Agrace HospiceCare (https://www.agrace.org/donate/).
