David Bruce Hopper
MINERAL POINT - David Bruce Hopper, 74, passed away on December 11, 2023, after a 12 year battle with congestive heart failure. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his giving heart left an impression on all those people who knew him well.
David was not a sweet sappy guy. He was a real work of art. His sarcasm and way with words will be truly missed. If David loved you or even liked you, he gave you a nick name. He himself was fondly known as "Grumpy Dave," yet he would do anything for you as any of his friends or family would tell you.
David is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Bast Hopper; sister, (Ig) Julie Hopper Kubicek; nieces, nephews, and his cool cat, Vincenzo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Jean Hopper, Walworth, WI.
David graduated from the UW Madison in June 1971. He worked 17 years for Baraboo Sysco Foods as a Sales Representative then switched careers, received many certifications and then worked for Charter Communications as a Network Administrator.
David had numerous hobbies including playing his guitars and bass. As a musician, David was a singer/songwriter who mixed and recorded "live sound" for various musical groups. His passion for all things musical was endless. David played in three local bands: Better Daze, 4H and DuggHopper. He lived to play that guitar... (right Homer?). David loved his band mates and the camaraderie they shared.
A special thanks to Upland Hills Hospice, Upland Hills Hospital and the UW Hospital Heart Failure Clinic for their exceptional care over the last 12 years.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be scheduled for some time after the first of the year. Any donations or memorials may be directed to any of the following: Mineral Point Opera House, Mineral Point Rescue Squad or Pointer Pantry (Mineral Point).
David is in rock n' roll Heaven.
"Well, you know they've got a hell of a band."

My condolences to Dave´s family. Dave and I worked side-by-side for years when we worked for Charter. I could always rely on him to help me solve a technical problem. And, yes, he could be "grumpy," but I always got a happy "grump." RIP Dave.
