Edward entered the world on Oct. 26, 1940, the son of Homer and Helen (Frick) Zweifel, in New Glarus, Wis. His formative years were spent in New Glarus and Montello, Wis. He graduated from Warren High School, Warren, Ill., in 1958. Edward earned bachelor's and master's degrees from UW-Platteville. He was proud of his Swiss heritage and wrote his thesis on Swiss immigration into Wisconsin. While at Platteville, Edward met and married his one true love and life's companion, Mary Marjorie Dresden. Eddie and Marge were married June 6, 1965, at the First United Methodist Church, Platteville. They made their home in East Troy. Together they lovingly raised their two children, Mark and Julie, and enjoyed 35 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2000.

Edward was a teacher at Parkview Middle School in Mukwonago, Wis., for 38 years. An outstanding educator, he influenced the lives of countless students. After retirement, he and Marge returned to Platteville. Ed was a member of the Laflin/St. James Masonic Lodge #247 and the Platteville United Methodist Church. His years after retirement were devoted to his family. He found immense joy in sharing the day-to-day experiences of his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Ed was exceptionally kind and compassionate, and he cared deeply about those he loved. He celebrated their milestones and achievements and shared the burden of their sorrows. Ed will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.
