Gene Baumgartner Obituary
Gene grew up in Paoli and lived in Sun Prairie for most of his life. In later years, he moved to New York to be closer to grandkids, but always considered Wisconsin his home.
He is dearly loved and missed by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Jill (Brian); his grandkids, Oriane and Emmett, who were the absolute lights of his life and adored their grandpa; his sisters, Beth and Gail (Doug); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry (Marilyn) and brother-in-law, Dave.
A celebration of Gene's life will be held at 11 a.m. on SUNDAY, FEB. 22 at N7914 Buol Rd, Belleville, followed by lunch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to NPR.

Sharon & Jill: Bob & I are sending prayers & warm hugs your way during this difficult time. Seeing Gene's picture, it had us remembering the "old days." Bob recalled when he met Gene in college & the friendship that developed. Years later, there were 3 of us couples all pregnant at the same time! We were honored to have you & Gene as godparents to our daughter (born a month before Jill) as well as our next child, a son. As life would have it, we weren't able to connect as much as we liked. We missed that. We hope you can feel the love being sent your way through our message & others.

I had the privilege of working with Gene B for many years. Always ready with a smile and willing to help, if he could get away from the constantly ringing phone :) My favorite memory of Gene was his reenactment of SNL's "Wild and Crazy Guy" and how his face would light up when Orie's name came up in conversation. Condolences and prayers for Sharon, Jill and all who were lucky enough to have Gene in their life.
