George Martin Hitt
April 1, 1953 - April 5, 2022
SCOTTSDALE, AZ - George Martin Hitt, 69, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2022.
George was born April 1, 1953 in Milwaukee, Wi. The son of John and Helny Hitt. George grew up in Madison where he attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Edgewood High School where George met the love of his life, Sherri Schappe. They were married October 21, 1972. This October would be their 50th anniversary.
George and Sherri moved to Scottsdale, AZ, in 1973, and were entrepreneurs. George became a poker dealer and then tournament director at Fort McDowell Casino for over 30-years. He met so many people throughout the years and was well respected by his friends and peers. He would always brighten a room with his wildly colored shirt and mustached smile. He recently retired just prior to 2022.
Together George and Sherri raised their son, Michael, and many exotic birds and other animals. George and their son, Michael, loved riding the quads from their home in the desert and seeing all kinds of beauty in the mountains and wildlife; including wild horses.

One of George's favorite sayings from the many years dealing poker: "You may not play for a long time, so you might as well have a good time."

My most sincere sympathies to Sherri from a fellow classmate at Edgewood. I remember George from our days at Blessed Sacrament where I attended beginning with 5th grade and seeing him at reunions in years since our Edgewood graduation. He will be missed.
