Feb. 5, 1932 - June 22, 2022
OXFORD - Gerald Louis Sheskey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, while holding the hand of his son (Mark) and daughter (Sherry). Dad was 90 years old.
He was born to parents Henry and Fern Sheskey on Feb. 5, 1932, in Columbus, WI. He was the successful co-owner and co-founder of Lake City Glass in Madison, WI. Dad was known as an extremely hard worker, a trait learned from his parents, passed down to his children. When he retired in 1980, his son continued to build upon the dream started by his father.
Gerald was an avid bowler, snowmobiler, and fisherman. but his most treasured hobby was hunting whitetail deer. He spent many years at his lake home which he built near Minocqua, WI. Eight years ago, at the age of 82, he built his dream house on 40 acres of wooded hunting land, his own personal paradise. He enjoyed clearing trails, building tree houses and ground blinds. Nothing brought him more peace than seeing turkeys and deer.
Gerald is survived by his son, Mark (Sherry); his daughter, Sherry Wunderlin. He is also survived by his grandson, Justin Faust (Ashley); his step-grandchildren: Calvin Meece, Adam Meece, Adam Wunderlin and Jesse Wunderlin. He is also survived by many wonderful great-grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Gloria; his brother, Donald; his great-grandson, Jordan Faust; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Sheskey; and his son-in-law, Bob Wunderlin.
Our father is an amazing man, who gave us an amazing life, many treasured memories and character traits which will be passed on for generations. While we miss him daily and love him so very much, we know he is now at peace. We also want to thank the nurses and doctors at Aspirus Hospital in Portage for all their support and kindness.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday June 29, 2022, at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave. Madison. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service at the church on Wednesday.
