Harlow Heintz Obituary
October 12, 1951 - November 29, 2025
POYNETTE – Harlow James Heintz, 74, died November 29, 2025, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born on October 12, 1951, in Baraboo, Wis., the son of Raymond and Lois (Schweppe) Heintz.
Harlow graduated from Poynette High School in 1969 and from UW Madison with a business and agriculture degree in 1973.
After college he returned to the family farm where he farmed alongside his dad, two brothers and later with his son.
On March 12, 1983, he married Mary Scheckel, whom he met on a blind date on Friday the 13th.
After milking cows for 50 years, he semi-retired, raising crops and beef cattle.
Harlow was a member of the Lodi United Methodist Church.
He was a history buff, visiting most presidential grave sites and presidential libraries. During the pandemic, he and Mary visited over 600 of the Wisconsin Historical Markers, because it was an outdoor activity.
Harlow is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary; his three children, Anna (Kevin) Denn, Christine (Jessie) Dowding and Robert (Kaitlyn) Heintz; eight grandchildren, Avaline, Josephine, and Lilyann Denn, Nora and Leah Dowding, Caroline, Raylan and Elaine Heintz; sister, Barbara (James) Attoe; brother, Marvin; sister-in-law, JoAnne Heintz; brothers-in-law, Mike Scheckel and Monsignor Roger Scheckel; brother and sister-in-law, James and Irene Scheckel; sister and brother-in-law, Therese Scheckel and Dean Amundson. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. Harlow was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ralph.
A private family service will be held with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Poynette.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials can be given to Lodi United Methodist Church.
