Jacob David Lowrey
Aug. 4, 1980 – Oct. 8, 2023
BOSTON, Mass. – Jacob David Lowrey, age 43, of Boston, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023. He was born in Madison, the son of David and Mary (Stodola) Lowrey.
Jacob graduated from Madison West High School in 1999. He married Victoria Tabei on Nov. 1, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Jacob David Lowrey, many people liked him, most people loved him. Jacob was born and raised in Madison, Wis. As a youth the two biggest influences in his life were his mother, Mary, and older brother, Spencer. His mother shaped him into a well-rounded young man while working as a full-time nurse at St. Mary's Hospital. While his mother was working, Spencer would spend his time teaching his brother who was seven years his junior how to throw a football and other things that a young boy should or maybe shouldn't learn while navigating life from adolescence to adulthood. Jacob was an excellent pool player, a skill he learned while spending weekends with his father, David. The annual family trips to Door County with Mary, David, Aunt Michele and Spencer were the most anticipated weeks of the year. His Aunt Michele and Uncle Derek also played a huge role in Jacob's development. He learned to fish and hunt from his Uncle Derek, who was always eager to take him and his cousin, Jonathon, outdoors to teach them the importance of getting out of the house and enjoying the fresh air.
As a teenager, Jacob attended Madison West High School. At Madison West he was a four-year letter winner as a member of the ice hockey team as well as the football team.
After graduating high school, and a short stint at the University of Milwaukee, he took a job selling used cars at Russ Darrow in Madison. After a short time, he realized he was quite gifted at selling and as a 19-year-old young man quickly became the top salesman at the dealership. He would claim he was the top salesman in the state, but those numbers were never confirmed. After cutting his teeth as a salesman, he took a shine to the financing side of the business and in his early 20s he found himself leading the finance department at Russ Darrow. It was during this time he met the love of his life. Victoria Tabei was a strong, sharp, stunning woman that was studying business at Edgewood College and took an internship in the finance department at the dealership. Although he was smitten with her from the first time he saw her, their relationship didn't blossom until years later after she graduated university and moved back to France, and he had since moved to run the finance department at Schoepp Motors. While Victoria was in France, she and Jacob kept in touch via email, and he convinced her to come back to Madison for a visit. On Halloween weekend of 2008, Victoria visited and Jacob was determined not to let her get away ever again. The two flew off to Las Vegas and wed that weekend. Victoria Tabei was no longer a resident of Paris. She was now Victoria Lowrey, resident of Madison, Wis., and a new chapter of both of their lives was set to begin.
After the financial crisis of 2008, Jacob grew disenfranchised with the auto industry and decided to reinvent himself. After seeing the crippling effects that economic downturn had on those close to him from the World War II generation, he decided he needed to do something to help. This is when he discovered the Veterans Benefit Package that the government offered to servicemen that were of a certain age and found themselves in financial hardship. He helped countless veterans receive their benefits, and while doing so realized he enjoyed helping people with their financial security and that is when Lowrey Financial Group was born. Shortly after that followed a lot of studying and exam taking, a move to Boston, and the birth of two beautiful children, twins Aden and Lilya in 2013. Much like when he broke into the auto industry, Jacob quickly found success in financial management. He genuinely enjoyed helping people find financial stability and plan for their futures. Lowrey Financial Group morphed into Mass Wealth Management which included weekly radio spots on WRKO in Boston, an appearance on Fox 25 business segment, and a team of advisors. He continued to own and operate Mass Wealth Management until his passing on Oct. 8, 2023.
Jacob was a man of many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, flew planes, traveled to many parts of the world and was an avid sports fan. Even with all those interests and hobbies, the thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his children and providing them the best life he possibly could.
Coming from a loving home of modest means, Jacob appreciated everything financial success brought him. He wasn't going to drive the second-best truck or dine at a mediocre restaurant. When he attended the games of his adopted Boston franchises, the Bruins, Red Sox or Celtics, you better believe he was sitting in the front row. Although he may have adopted a few of the Boston sports teams to root for, the Green Bay Packers were always his favorite sports team. He was a man of impeccable style who loved a good suit and a nice watch, and he never had a hair out of place. Along with indulging himself with the finer things in life, he was also very generous and charitable. Once his mother passed in 2001 after a battle with cancer, he was a staunch supporter of many cancer charities, including participating and donating to the annual Jimmy V Foundation Stand Up to Cancer Walk. He never passed up an opportunity to support local youth fund raisers as well, whether it be supporting youth hockey programs, or donating to schools to improve the quality of education for the next generation. He loved his family above everything else and grew close bonds with many members of both the Lowrey and Stodola families.
To go along with the beautiful family, successful career and generosity, he had a giant personality, a big smile that lit up a room and an even bigger heart. He had the ability to change the mood of someone having a bad day with a simple phone call. Every room he was in was a room people wanted to be in, whether it was telling witty jokes or wild stories from all his adventures. Jacob never had a dull day and will be missed by all the people he touched along the way in his fascinating journey through life.
Jacob is survived by his wife, Victoria; twins, Lilya Mary and Aden Driss Lowrey; father, David (Connie); brother, Spencer (Cam) Lowrey; stepbrother, George; stepsister, Lisa; friends, Erin and Chuck Sweeney and the Sweeney Family, and Nate Semple and the Semple Family; nephew, Spencer Lowrey Jr.; nieces, Korin, Lauren and Megan Lowrey; aunt, Michele (Mark) Collins; and many special cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lowrey; and sister, Heather Stodola.

My condolences to Jacob's family. Deepest sympathies to Victoria, Aiden and Lilya. I was shocked to hear the news of Jake's sudden death, he was much too young. I've considered Jake a friend, financial advisor through his work, have met his wife and beautiful children on many occasions at the office or a party or their home. I took an instant liking to him after first meeting him at a presentation he was doing about financial planning and annuities. He reminded me a a cousin from Madison WI area, who was about his age, had the same mid western twang and they had similar physical characteristics. I have many relatives from WI and my dad grew up there, so WI is close to my heart, and my relatives are Green Bay Packer fans!
Jacob always greeted me with a smile, a hug, warmth and caring. His wife Victoria has been so sweet. The kids, oh my, they are love bugs! I have a video of Lylya doing the Macarena at one the holiday gatherings for clients of his company, and other pictures of events with immediate family and events. The last were related to the photo game "where's Jake" and I won!
I'm very sad Jake has passed on. I'd like to know when services to remember his life are available in MA.
