James Thomas O'Toole

September 20, 1946 - December 12, 2025

MADISON - James Thomas O'Toole, age 79, of Madison, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025. He was born on September 20, 1946, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the son of Lawrence and Geraldine (Thayere) O'Toole.

James graduated from Brandon Valley High School in 1964, received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Northern State University in 1969 and was united in marriage to Diane Matthiesen on February 16, 1974, in Hardwick, Minn. He built a successful career in sales and, in 1989, combined his passion for golf with his sales expertise to co-found National Golf Graphics, a business he owned and operated until retirement. Known for his love of golf and his warm, welcoming spirit, James cherished time spent with friends and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Shaney (Victor) Iturbide; granddaughter, Abby Harris; brother, Larry (Sheryl) O'Toole; and nieces, Julie (Jeff) Kowal and Jill Helwig. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Rollag; nephew, Brian Rollag; and wife, Diane O'Toole.

In accordance with Jim's wishes, no formal service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Tee of South Central Wisconsin in his honor.

Death leaves a heartache, no one can heal; Love leaves a memory, no one can steal.

Jim has left the course.
