James Whitman Obituary
Jim was a devoted husband to Deborah Di Carlo, sharing many years of marriage filled with love, music and cherished memories. A practicing psychiatrist, Jim dedicated his career to relieving the suffering of others with compassion and wisdom. Known for his intelligence, passion, caring nature, and deep involvement in community affairs, he was also a talented musician devoted to making a joyful sound everywhere he went, bringing light to those around him. His commitment to both his profession, music and community touched countless lives on Longboat Key and beyond.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Di Carlo; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Jennifer Whitman and Jeffrey Whitman and Nancy Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John F. Whitman and Helen Whitman-Obert.
A gathering to celebrate Jim's life will be held at the Porta Bella Italian Restaurant at 425 North Frances St. in Madison, WI, on October 16th from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Longboat Key Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 8097, Longboat Key, FL 34228.
Jim will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his sharp mind, compassionate heart, joyful music, and unwavering commitment to his community and loved ones.

Jim was one of the first psychiatrists we had at our Gateway CSP program in Madison WI many years ago. He was knowledgeable and helpful to staff and clients alike. I hope he had a great retirement! Condolences to his family and loved ones.

It was a proud member of the Manatee TEA Party IN rarely missed the meeting. He was very engaged in the political arena and we´ve always had great discussions and moving the country in the right direction he will be missed.
