COTTAGE GROVE - Joann C. Miller, age 81, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. She was born on August 10, 1943, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Joseph and May (Mills) Rooney.
Joann graduated from McDonell Memorial High School in Chippewa Falls in 1962. She married Gerald "Jerry" Miller on September 19, 1964. Joann worked as a banker and retired from Cottage Grove State Bank. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church in Cottage Grove. She was past president of the Cottage Grove Lioness Club and a member of the 600-bowling club.
Joann's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her light. She treasured and was very proud of her family, and her sons were her life. She supported her family and was always there for them. She was a classy and traditional woman with a beautiful soul and was accepting of everyone. Joann was the anchor of the family. She loved traveling the world, spending time in Montello fishing and boating at the cabin and going out for Friday night fish fries and old fashioneds. She enjoyed Sunday afternoons spent watching the Cottage Grove Home Talent baseball games and was also an avid Brewers, Badgers and Packers fan. She enjoyed playing Euchre on Wednesday afternoons.
Joann is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Debbie) Miller, David Miller and Christopher (Traci) Miller; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Mitchell, Joshua, Madilyn, Lily, Cameron, Adrien and Alayah; three great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Ryker and Aspyn; brother, Gary Rooney; sister, Kathy Reiter; many nieces and nephews; and companion, David "Tom" Roth. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; infant daughter, Pamela Sue Miller; and brothers, Dennis and Dale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday. A Celebration of Life will take place after the Mass at NORA'S TWO, 1843 US Highway 2/18, Deerfield, from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Saint Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Chippewa Falls, at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025.
