John Michael Engel

John Michael Engel, 78 of Madison, WI passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2023, after a three-year battle with ALS.
A Memorial Mass celebrating John's life will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, 11:30 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St. Racine. The visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at the church. Please see the funeral home website for a full obituary.

Just now have I seen this obituary. I am heart broken with this news.
As an attorney for the City of Racine, and then Racine County, I had the honor of working with John in his various roles in life.
He excelled at everything he did, but most importantly, from my vantage point, he was always a gracious and kind person. That attribution is the highest that one can attain in life.
John...as I sometimes quip, you were one of the good persons that one is fortunate to meet in life. You added immensely to the quality of my life, and for that I will always be most thankful.
With tears in my eyes... God speed, my friend...God speed to you!

I was so saddened by the notice of John's death, and especially of
his ALS diagnosis. I will always cherish working with you at the
ARC and I hope that you will continue living and remembering
all the good times with John. You were so wise to move to Madison.
