Dr. John Hugh Quisling, DDS

June 15, 1940 - February 1, 2025

MADISON - John Hugh Quisling, age 84, of Madison, WI passed away on February 1, 2025, in his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 15th, 1940, in Madison, WI.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Dr. Rolf and Marie Quisling and his grandson Eric.

He was a devoted husband to Sally (Pierantoni) Quisling and loving father of Jason (Claire) Quisling, Joshua Quisling, Michol (Greg) Banes; cherished grandfather of Justine, Nicholas, Josephine, Greyson and Yvangeline.

Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1970, John and Sally moved back to Wisconsin where he maintained a dental practice in Middleton for 36 years. He was a life-long learner and innovator and was the first dentist in Wisconsin to implement the use of laser technology for quicker post-op recovery from surgeries and the treatment of gum disease. In his later years John continued to practice dentistry, traveling to serve communities throughout central and northern Wisconsin, spending several years working with a team he loved in Lac du Flambeau. During this time, he provided expertise as a professor and mentor to young dental students. John had many interests and in addition to time spent with family, he could often be found working on sports cars, drafting plans for construction projects, performing renovations and tending to his rural property outside of Cross Plains. He loved music, arts, math and politics which meant he was always up for a good political debate.

As a graduate of UW-Madison and Marquette Dental School he was a lifelong Badger fan, as well as a Packers fan.

A mass to Celebrate his Life will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Madison on Saturday, February 15 at 11 a.m.
