Lawrence "Larry" Landgraf

MIDDLETON - Lawrence "Larry" Landgraf, age 98, of Middleton, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at Cardinal View Senior Living. He was born in Hayward, Wis., in 1925, the son of William and Signe (Lindholm) Landgraf.
Lawrence graduated from Hayward High School in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II from January 1943 to March of 1946. He married the love of his life, Dolores Wells, in 1947, and they were married for 69 years. Lawrence graduated from the University of Wisconsin with Honors and a B.A. degree in Journalism in 1949, when he joined Madison Newspapers retail advertising department. He retired as Advertising Director in 1988.
Lawrence was a past president of the Madison Area Sales and Marketing Executives, Wisconsin Newspapers Advertising Executives Assoc (WNAE) and Madison Advertising Federation and past Silver Medal recipient. After retiring from Madison Newspapers in October 1988, Lawrence went on to work at the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce. Lawrence also volunteered at SCORE (Senior Corps of Retired Executives) and Middleton Community Church.
Larry was happiest in Hayward, and he enjoyed vacationing on Durphee Lake and spending time with family and friends there.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Terri Zoe (Robert Stoehr) Buechner Stoehr; daughter-in-law, Dorinda Landgraf; three grandchildren, Dana (Tim) Schmock, Travis (Chele Lathroum) Buechner and Lisa Lipscomb; ten great-grandchildren, Tate Schmock, Riley Schmock, Keenan Landgraf, Dillon Adler, Daniel Landgraf, Tavon Landgraf, Zechariah Landgraf, Janyiah Landgraf, Aidan Lipscomb and Naomi Lipscomb; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, William Landgraf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Signe Landgraf; wife, Dolores Landgraf; sons, James Landgraf and Tom Landgraf; daughter, Janet Rust; brother, Don (Betty) Landgraf; and sister-in-law, Abby Landgraf.
A memorial service will be held at MIDDLETON COMMUNITY CHURCH, 645 Schewe Road, Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
