Binder, Lois J. (Savage)
MADISON - Lois Binder passed away peacefully on March 24, 2021, in Madison, Wis. She was born on April 6, 1930, the fourth child of James W. Savage and Ethel E. Savage (Burroughs), in Cleveland, Ohio. She was united in marriage to August E. Binder in 1950, in Ohio. They moved to Albuquerque, N.M., in 1954 and retired to Portland, Ore., in 1987. They were active in local churches of the United Church of Christ in all locations. She was most recently a member of Orchard Ridge United Church of Christ when she came to live with her daughter, Joyce, in 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August; parents; siblings; and oldest daughter, Nancy. She is survived by her children, Joyce, Barbara (Dave), and Thomas (Lynn); five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Ruth Duckworth; and several nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the caring staff at Brookdale in Middleton and Agrace Hospice for helping to make her comfortable in the end of her physical days on earth. May her generous and compassionate spirit live on in the lives she has touched. There will be a private celebration of life, with livestreaming for those out of town, and a family gathering this summer in New Mexico.
