Kosovac, Lorraine
MADISON - Lorraine Kosovac, age 89, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Feb. 20, 1932, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Steven and Antoinette (Nekich) Stoy.
Lorraine had a gift for gab and a zest for life. Her mind never quit running, even at age 89. Her body simply became tired. She was able to say goodbye, participate in arrangements, and was able to understand and accept the process of passing.
Lorraine was born and raised in Detroit, Mich., where she made her life and raised a family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, George; four brothers; and two sisters. She moved to the Madison area after the passing of George. Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Madelyn of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Linda of Mount Horeb; daughter-in-law, Mindy of Mount Horeb; a host of nieces and nephews; and a gaggle of friends, including special friends, Shirley, Jeff and Loretta.
Lorraine liked to be in constant motion. She was an avid walker, loved her exercise and history classes, as well as knitting at The Jefferson with her friends. Lorraine enjoyed wide open spaces, where she spent time on Linda and Mindy's alpaca farm helping with chores, animal care, garden work, spoiling the dogs and more. She enjoyed trips to Florida, gambling getaways and visits to Arizona to visit with Madelyn. As Lorraine "matured," as she liked to say, she looked forward to Madelyn's visits here in Wisconsin where the two of them would "shop 'til they dropped."
In keeping with Lorraine's wishes, she will not be having a visitation or funeral. Lorraine instead will be forever memorialized in the Nekich/Stojsich Story, an ancestral, in-progress family story and genealogy document. She has a rich history, with humble beginnings as a daughter of immigrant parents from Croatia/Serbia. In the last few years, Lorraine was instrumental in telling and editing the story of those who came before her, her life, all to be passed down for generations to come. Linda and Madelyn - My deepest sympathy to you. Lorraine was my "bestie" at the Jefferson; I have missed her since my move to Attic Angel.
The printed resume of her life nailed her personality perfectly - she was a good friend and fun to know
