Westphal, Lorraine E.
CROSS PLAINS – Lorraine E. Westphal, of Cross Plains, joined her husband in heaven as she passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020. Born April 27, 1926, in Lone Rock, to Cornelius and Mary Greenheck, she joined a family of siblings she loved dearly. She married Robert "Bob" Westphal in 1947 and stood by his side for their 73 years together.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Always rooted strongly in her Catholic faith, she had a rosary in every purse and pocket. She was a living example of the love of Christ and taught us all how to love and be compassionate.
Lorraine was a woman of unconditional love, endless giving, and incredible strength. Most of all, she loved her family and cherished time with her children, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Her love for taking care of all those around her paired well with her inability to ever sit down. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, was a master at apple pies, and was always up for a game of cards. More recently, she loved having visitors, especially family, and often wouldn't let them leave without a gift to take home. She was also known to get scolded by her husband for not using her walker. Lorraine will be dearly missed and will forever be our guardian angel.
Surviving Lorraine are her sons, Gerry of Phillips, Warren (Nadine) of Spring Green and Robert Jr. (Patricia) of Soldiers Grove; daughter, Mitzi (Dale) Lochner of Cross Plains; grandchildren, Jessica (Curtis) Bittorf, Eva Westphal, Emmaleigh Westphal, Keith (Kristin) Westphal, Joleen (Nate) Schreiber, Nick (Ashley) Westphal, Mike Westphal, Jodi (Kirk) Anderson, Justin (Jenna) Westphal, Cody (Vanessa) Lochner and Kalli (Adam) Shelton; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes (Laverne) Sutter and Louise Sutter; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Greenheck and Winifred (Lowell) Grass.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob; parents, Cornelius and Mary; parents-in-law, Otto and Helen Westphal; children, Dennis and Rosemary; siblings, Berniece (Norbert) Pulvermacher, Mary Kay (Anthony) Schwarz, Cornelius Jr. (Ruth) Greenheck, Albert (Ann) Greenheck, John Greenheck, Francis Greenheck, Pauline (Jack) Lins, Jerome Greenheck and Robert Greenheck; and in-laws, Sylvester Sutter and Tom (Bev) Westphal.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, with Father Scott Jablonski presiding.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Kathy, Sandy, Cheryl, and the Agrace staff for their care and compassion. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
