Marcie Acker Obituary
February 21, 1940 - February 22, 2025
MIDDLETON - Marcie M. Acker, age 85, of Middleton, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Heritage Middleton. She was born on February 21, 1940, in Roxbury, the daughter of Jack and Irene (Breunig) Schwartz.
Marcie graduated from Sauk Prairie High School. She married Leroy Acker on June 30, 1959, at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury. She worked in the Claims Department for Middleton Insurance Co., retiring in 2001. She also babysat for many families at her home.
Marcie loved to shop and was a fan of QVC. She could often be found crafting, doing word puzzles or reading, and HGTV and the Food Network were often on in the background. Christmas was Marcie's favorite holiday. She also enjoyed camping trips, but most of all, Marcie loved playing with her grandchildren.
Marcie loved more than anything sharing her time with her family, friends, neighbors, work associates, caregivers and anyone she encountered. She had the best sense of humor and always made everyone she met feel loved and listened to. She will be missed by so many. She was a fighter as well, and she held on as long as her body would allow. Her mind was still strong even when she was tired.
Marcie is survived by her husband, Leroy; son, Derek (Denise); daughter, Shannon (Brian) Murray; brothers, Clem and Gerard Schwartz; sisters-in-law, Marie Michaels and Nancy Schwartz; and grandchildren, Kelsey, Keegan and Kya (Claudio) Chairez, Karis, and Evan and Roz Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Jack; son, Bryce; brothers, Jim and Hubert; and sisters, Pearl and Polly.
Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Memory Care, her Agrace HospiceCare team, and Dr. Kelly Herold and her team for the many years of thoughtful care. An additional huge thank you to Debbie Kratochwill for all of her support and kindness.

I was honored to be Marcie´s physician for many years before my retirement in 2011. And I am saddened by her departure. Marcie always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Life was good and she shared her joy widely. Everyone seemed to be a friend, and there were no strangers. Would that we all could have her attitude & outlook!
