Someone told me about your restaurant and said you had the best country cooking anywhere around. I never got to eat in your restaurant which was my loss.
In Sally SC they have a Chittin Strut festival. I bet you could have showed those folks how to really cook a chitlin. You could smell that place 1 mile away.

When ever my family came to Charleston on vacation we always had to go by and see Martha Lou and get some food, she told me where to go buy fresh fish and shrimp to bring back to Kentucky. I remember the first time she gave me direction to Wando's, and I missed the turn she told me to make, how she scolded me (that was Martha Lou). Debra, Little Sister and the rest of the family you have my condolences, our visit to Charleston will not be the same. Martha Lou we will see you when the morning comes..

Our granddaughter found this restaurant on a trip to Charleston. My hubby said no way was he going in to eat lunch, but we said we were so he reluctantly went in with us. It was one of the best experiences we ever had in the 25 years of going to Charleston. Martha Lou came out of the kitchen and sat on Al's lap and just made over him the whole time and kept refilling his lemonade. Interesting that he decided he wanted some of my chicken dinner and said it was the best he had ever eaten. The memories of that day we share so many times with those who listen and we are grateful to have had our paths cross that day. May you rest in peace - a journey well taken
