Hines, Martin
REEDSBURG - Martin Hines, age 88, of Reedsburg, Wis., passed away on Oct. 17, 2021. He was born on April 28, 1933, in Highland, Wis., the son of Walter and Wilhelmina (Martin) Hines. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1959 he was married to Roberta Ford.
On July 31, 1993, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Carlow.
Marty truly loved being outdoors. Riding a horse or taking long bike rides or walks with Carol always put a smile on his face and a twinkle in his Irish eyes. Whenever he was asked to sing, his voice would capture the attention of an entire room of people. Anyone who ever heard Marty sing at a wedding, in a piano bar, at a funeral or a joyous family gathering never forgot his voice.
We were lucky enough to hear Marty sing "I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now" when he was asked to sing to hospice care on their first visit with him. He probably heard Bing Crosby or Perry Como sing the song as a teenager. Our family always knew that in his heart, Dad always dreamed of making it big. Marty Hines, you may not have been a pop star in Billboard Magazine, but you will always be famous in the hearts and minds of your friends and family.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Mary Schlimgen and Maggie Lottes.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Gregory Hines, Daniel (Tracy) Hines, David Hines, and Paul Hines; granddaughters, Kiki and Aurora Hines; many nieces and nephews; along with other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice, and the Our House Memory Care Centers in Reedsburg and Richland Center for their excellent care.
Funeral services for Martin Hines will be determined at a later date.
The Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family.
