I remember Mirtha's energy & idealism, & the way she rolled up her sleeves and got right to work. She not only worked hard as a student, but was also a leader in the Latino community at East High. I was shocking to hear that she was taken away so quickly at such a young age. She was a good, very positive friend to many, and an excellent example to even more. She will be sorely missed not only by her family and friends, but also by the community, where she was a leader for young people at the Northport community center. We were lucky to have known her, even if her time here with us was way too short.
