R. Michael "Mike" Harrop

MIDDLETON - R. Michael "Mike" Harrop, age 76, of Middleton, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 7, 1946, the son of Donald R. and Veronica (Statz) Harrop. He married Elaine Miller on May 28, 1966.
After Mike graduated from Middleton High School in 1964, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves and then started his graphic arts career and retired from Litho Productions. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. He was a Charter Member of Cross Plains Valley Archers and a member of the Oak Ridge Rifle Club. Early spring to late fall, Mike played golf with his Class of '64 buddies. Hunting and fishing trips with cousins and friends were much enjoyed events. "Hey, hey! Harpo!"
Mike was a wonderful husband, son, father and grandfather. Over the years, the Wisconsin lakes abounded with laughter as Mike took his wife, family and friends boating, water skiing and tubing. Life was good and he felt blessed with family and friends.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine; son, Michael J. Harrop; daughter, Brenda K. Harrop; granddaughter, Angelica Harrop Barakat; brother, James (Thelma) Harrop; sister, Mary Anne (Gerard) Nonn; brother-in-law, Gerald (Patti) Miller; sister-in-law, Joyce Raisbeck; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald R. and Veronica Harrop; brothers, William Harrop and Donald D. (Pauline) Harrop; sister, Judith Nelson; and nephew, Marcus Harrop.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, with Father Brian Wilk presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the start of Mass on Tuesday.
