Richard Bogdanow Sr. passed away on December 13, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Madison, WI, on November 15, 1935, son of William and Pauline (Maciag) Bogdanow. Richard (Dick/Bucky) graduated from Central High School in 1955. He met Gail Fruth, a fellow resident of the Greenbush neighborhood of Madison, at a dance. They were married in May of 1960. Dick worked at the Carnes Corporation in Verona and was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service more than 25 years.

Dick is survived by his children, Richard, Jr., Janet (Tom) Wanamaker, Paula (Keith) Schmid, Jerilyn (Steve) Cunningham, and Mary Bogdanow (John Stephenson); five grandchildren, Dan and Maddie Wanamaker, Evan and Dana Schmid, and Brian Cunningham.

A 62-year resident of Verona, Dick with his wife Gail enjoyed participating in activities at the Verona Senior Center and attending community meals at St. James Lutheran Church and the Kasieta Center. Dick was an avid Euchre player but loved any card game. He was a sober member of AA for 44 years. He was passionate about water and energy conservation.

Dick is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Gail; his parents; sister, Anne Hub-Carney, sister, Rose Lemberger; five nephews; and two nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at the Kasieta Center, 1200 E Verona Ave, Verona WI 53593 on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
